Rare Small-Sized Redware Canning Jar with Slip Decoration, Galena, IL origin, second half 19th century, squat-shaped, semi-ovoid jar with footed base, tooled shoulder, and semi-squared "wax sealer" rim, the surface decorated with dipped yellow slip and covered in a clear lead glaze. Provenance: From a long-term Illinois collection consigned to this auction. A shallow 3/4" rim chip and other rim wear. Inner wax sealer rim with wear and a small chip. Some light surface wear to body of jar. H 6".
