Rare Slip-Decorated Redware Spaniel, Galena, IL origin, second half 19th century, full-bodied figure of a spaniel on base, the surface coated in a yellowish slip, decorated with spattered manganese, and covered in a clear lead glaze. Impressed circular eyes and incised mouth, locket, and toes. Original circular vent hole in underside. A prized Galena form featuring outstanding color and condition. Provenance: From a long-term Illinois collection consigned to this auction. Excellent condition with some expected light wear. H 9".
