Exceptional Slip-Decorated Redware Jar with Lid, Galena, IL origin, second half 19th century, tapering jar with rounded shoulder and flared rim, the lead-glazed surface featuring dramatic splashes of yellow slip against a mottled orange ground with olive accents. Includes Galena redware lid with recessed top and lead-glazed surface. Outstanding and very rare slip treatment. Very nice condition with a few rim chips and a few minor to small in-the-firing lime pings to body. Edge of lid with glaze wear, a small chip, and a small lime ping. H 8 1/2".
