Outstanding and Rare Two-Gallon Redware Jug with Bold Yellow Slip Circle Decoration, Galena, IL origin, second half 19th century, squat-shaped jug with distinctive tooled spout and applied strap handle, decorated around the body with three large yellow slip circles resembling full moons. Impressed "2" at lower handle terminal. Excellent color, size, form, and decoration. The finest example of Galena redware we have ever offered. Wonderful color and folk art appeal. Chip to spout. H 12 1/2".
