Fine Lidded Redware Jar with Slip Decoration, Galena, Illinois origin, 19th century, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder and flared rim, the upper half decorated with a dipped yellowish slip, the entire surface covered in a clear lead glaze over a mottled green and orange ground. Large "X" incised into slip on shoulder. Includes original lead-glazed redware lid with large knob. Excellent color. Very nice condition with three small, restored rim chips. Lid in excellent condition. H (including lid) 10 3/4".
