Rare Manganese-Glazed Redware Spaniel, Galena, IL origin, second half 19th century, full-bodied figure of a spaniel on base, the surface coated in a mottled reddish-brown lead and manganese glaze. yellowish slip, decorated with spattered manganese, and covered in a clear lead glaze. Impressed circular eyes and incised mouth, locket, and toes. Original circular vent hole in underside. A prized Galena form. A chip to nose. Small sporadic surface flakes. Small base chips. H 9".
