Two-Gallon Glazed Redware Jug, Galena, IL origin, mid 19th century, highly-ovoid jug with footed base and semi-rounded spout, the lead-glazed surface featuring colorful hues of green, red, and orange including heavy spotting. Impressed with two-gallon capacity mark at shoulder. Provenance: From a long-term Illinois collection consigned to this auction. Heavy chipping to foot. A thin 2 1/4" crack on underside, extending 3" diagonally onto base. Surface wear to body of jug. Bottom edge of spout with a 5/8" chip and minor flake. Handle with a small, shallow chip and light wear. H 13".
