Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Wheeling, WV Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1875, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, featuring the stenciled advertising, "From / R.J. SMYTH . / Grocer, / Wheeling . / W . VA." Freehand stripes to shoulder and base. Base with stenciled "2," flanked by flourishes. Surface wear. A 7/8 chip to interior of rim. A 1" U-shaped surface crack at base. A 3" hairline to underside. H 12".
