Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "KNOTTS, SWINDLER & CO / PALATINE, / W. VA.," circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, featuring Knotts, Swindler & Company maker's stenciling and stenciled "2," all between freehand stripes. Staining throughout. A 6" x 3 1/4" cross-shaped crack from rim on proper left side of jar. H 11 1/4".
