Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jug with Stenciled Shield Motif, Stenciled "HAMILTON AND / JONES / GREENSBORO, PA.," circa 1875, ovoid jug with tooled spout, featuring Hamilton and Jones maker's stenciling within a shield, freehand vining, and an underscored freehand "2" flanked by dashes. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Two spout chips, a few minor nicks to turnings below spout, some light fry to cobalt, staining to surface, and a minor ping at base. H 14 1/2".
