Very Rare One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Bowl with Stenciled Pear Decoration, Stenciled "PALATINE POTTERY. CO / PALATINE / W VA," circa 1875, tapered bowl with semi-rounded rim, featuring Palatine Pottery Company maker's stenciling, surrounding a stenciled design of a pear. Believed to be the only Palatine pear-decorated bowl known. Restoration to underside and interior base, the extent of which is unknown. A sealed, diagonal top-to-bottom crack from rim to left of stenciling, which joins a faint, top-to-bottom diagonal hairline that extends through the word "PALATINE."
