Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Stenciled Horse Motif, Stenciled "PALATINE POTTERY CO. / PALATINE, / W. VA," circa 1875, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, featuring Palatine Pottery Company maker's stenciling surrounding a stenciled design of a rearing horse. Stenciled "2" at base. Freehand stripes below rim and at base. A long, faint Y-shaped hairline to underside, emanating from a small, in-the-firing fissure at bottom edge on front.
