One-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Clover Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1870, ovoid pitcher with tooled body and semi-rounded rim molding, decorated with a two-stemmed clover plant design extending up the front. Spout flanked by cobalt swags. Cobalt clover motifs to left and right sides of collar. An additional single clover appears on side of pitcher. Provenance: A-fresh-to-the-market example, from a forty year Maryland collection. Very nice condition with a spout chip, an in-the-firing darker stripe to clay on right side, and a smooth, fairly innocuous in-the-firing contact mark to right side.
