Four-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "W.W. & D. WESTON / ELLENVILLE, NY", circa 1848-1849, ovoid jar with thin rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a large two-blossomed tulip plant with looping stems. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. Professional restoration to star-shaped crack on underside, including a restored crack extending up side under one handle, as well as restored cracks to base on reverse. A minor nick to rim on reverse.
