Very Rare Petite Stoneware Pitcher with Elaborate Cobalt Bird Decoration, Ft. Edward, NY origin, circa 1875, ovoid pitcher with tooled midsection and beaded rim, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a fat-bodied, crested bird perched on a leaf, below a leafy garland extending around the midsection of the vessel. Exceptional size. A 1 1/2" hairline from rim on reverse. A small in-the-firing iron ping to pitcher's proper left side. A shallow, in-the-firing 5/8" base chip on reverse. Some in-the-firing glaze flaws to surface. H 4 3/4".
