One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J. & E. NORTON. / BENNINGTON VT," circa 1855, ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with an unusual slip-trailed floral motif featuring looping stems. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a small in-the-firing iron ping to front, a tiny in-the-firing nick to shoulder, and minor wear to midsection on reverse. H 11 3/4".
