One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "J. & E. NORTON / BENNINGTON VT," circa 1855, cylindrical jug with semi-squared spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a stylized branch. Cobalt accents to maker's mark and capacity mark. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. A small spout chip and a few minor spout nicks. Staining to surface. Very minor wear to cobalt. H 12 1/4".
