One-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J. & E. NORTON / BENNINGTON, VT," circa 1855, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed flower with scrolled details to the petals and spots to the center. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. A 3 1/2" hairline from rim. A 3" in-the-firing surface line from rim on interior, visible as a 1/2" glazed-over surface line to shoulder. Minor staining to surface. An in-the-firing iron ping to top of rim. H 6 3/4" ; Diam. 8 7/8".
