Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Wreath Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG . PA," circa 1865, ovoid jug with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded spout, brush-decorated with a wreath surrounding the number, "2." Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. Left side of jug with a 6 1/2" x 5" hairline emanating from a stone ping. Two in-the-firing iron pings to proper right side of jug. A glazed-over flake to base on front. A few small base chips on reverse, one of which is glazed over. H 13 3/4".
