Large-Sized Tanware Pitcher, New Geneva or Greensboro, PA origin, circa 1885, ovoid pitcher with flaring collar and rounded rim, brush-decorated in Albany slip with three tulips ascending the front. Stripe decoration to spout flanked by tulips. The floral motifs on this pitcher are closely related to cobalt designs from the George and Albert Black pottery of Somerfield, Pennsylvania, circa 1865, suggesting some influence between potteries or itinerance of a decorator later in his career. Excellent condition with light staining. H 11".
