Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar with Kaolin Slip Decoration, attributed to the Thomas Chandler Pottery, Kirksey's Crossroads, Edgefield District, SC, circa 1850, ovoid jar with semi-rounded rim and arched tab handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a slip-trailed kaolin-slip drape motif and below each handle with looping kaolin-slip lines, all against a gray-green, alkaline-glazed ground. Excellent condition with some water glass staining to exterior and whitish residue to interior. H 14 1/2".
