Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Milk Pan with Iron Slip Decoration, attributed to Thomas Chandler, Kirksey's Crossroads, Edgefield District, SC, circa 1850, flaring form with semi-rounded rim and applied tab handles, decorated completely around the shoulder with a looping iron slip design against a gray-green alkaline-glazed ground. Streaky bluish alkaline glaze to interior. Excellent condition with a minor in-the-firing fissure to one terminal of each handle, some wear to edges of handles, as well as some wear and residue to interior base. H 7" ; Diam. (across rim) 9 1/4".
