Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar with Iron Slip Decoration, attributed to Thomas Chandler, Edgefield District, SC, circa 1850, cylindrical jar with tapered shoulder and thin, semi-rounded rim, decorated with a looping line motif in slip-trailed iron slip against a grayish alkaline-glazed ground. Provenance: From a fifty-year SC collection. A 1 3/8" in-the-firing chipped section to base. Hairlines to base, continuing onto underside. Brownish residue to underside.H 10 1/2".
