Unusual Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Bowl, probably Thomas Chandler Pottery, Edgefield District, SC, circa 1850, flaring bowl with semi-squared rim and rarely-seen open, horizontal-strap handles applied at the shoulder, the surface covered in an olive-colored alkaline glaze over a reddish clay body. Provenance: From a fifty-year SC collection. Heavy chipping around rim. Otherwise excellent condition. H 5 5/8" ; Diam. (at rim) 8 3/8".
