Small-Sized Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware with Kaolin-Slip Floral Decoration, Edgefield District, SC origin, mid 19th century, tapering jar with angular shoulder and semi-squared rim, the surface covered in a heavy grayish alkaline glaze and decorated with four slip-trailed, kaolin-slip daisy motifs around the shoulder. Provenance: From a fifty-year SC collection. Rim chips. A small, smooth in-the-making dent at bottom edge. Faintness to slip. H 6 3/4".
