Rare Six-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar, Stamped "G.P. SEIGLER, / TRENTON, S.C.," George P. Seigler Pottery, Shaw's Creek, Edgefield District, SC, circa 1870-1880, ovoid jar with arched lug handles and thin, semi-rounded rim, the surface covered in a mottled olive-colored alkaline glaze against a rust-colored ground. Incised with six vertical slashes at shoulder. Base impressed with inverted G.P. Seigler maker's mark, in the same manner as that found on the large-sized face jar sold in Crocker Farm, Inc.'s Summer 2025 auction, lot 56. Provenance: Richard and Cindy Pearce Collection. A faint, approximately 6" vertical line ascending base on reverse. A 1 1/2" loss and shallow chipping to proper right handle. A 1" chip and some shallow chipping to proper left handle. Grease residue to surface. H 14 1/2".
