Fine Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jug, Stamped "J. W. S. & CO / PINE HOUSE, / S. C.," John W. Seigler Pottery, Shaw's Creek, Edgefield District, SC, circa 1860, semi-ovoid jug with semi-squared spout, the surface covered in a streaky olive-green alkaline glaze. Reverse base impressed with John W. Seigler maker's mark. The placement of the stamp in this location can also be noted on the large-sized face jar sold in Crocker Farm, Inc.'s Summer 2025 auction, lot 56, which bears the circa 1870 mark of Seigler's son, George. Provenance: Richard and Cindy Pearce Collection. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 11 1/2".
