Scarce Alkaline-Glazed Open-Handled Stoneware Jar, Edgefield District, SC origin, second quarter 19th century, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, rounded rim, and unusual vertical open handles, the surface covered in a gray-green alkaline glaze. Provenance: From a fifty-year SC collection. A 2" hairline from rim. A faint 1" line to exterior of rim, a very small portion of which is visible on interior. A minor base chip. H 10".
