Small-Sized Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar, probably Pottersville Stoneware Manufactory, Edgefield District, SC, circa 1820-1840, crudely-potted, ovoid jar with thin, flattened rim, the surface covered in a mottled grayish alkaline glaze. Likely an early work by a potter learning the craft. Provenance: From a fifty-year SC collection. Good condition with a 5/8" rim chip and a 1/2" in-the-making rim chip. H 5 1/4".
