Unusual Glazed Redware Bowl, probably Galena, IL, second half 19th century, densely-potted, tapered bowl, the lead-glazed surface featuring orange spotting over a yellow ground. The sturdy potting of this piece, including its flaring base that would keep it from tipping over, suggests it may have been made as a dog's food or water bowl. Glaze wear to rim. A few small rim chips. An area of glaze wear to interior shoulder. Spots of glaze throughout exterior. H 3 1/8 ; Diam. 6 3/8".
