Three-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Stenciled Eagle Decoration, Stenciled "A. CONRAD. / NEW GENEVA / FAYETTE CO. PA.," circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, featuring Alexander Conrad's maker's stenciling surrounding a stenciled design of a spread-winged Federal eagle clutching olive branches and arrows in its talons, flanked by two small stars. Design is bordered by stenciled rose motifs. Base with stenciled "3" flanked by stenciled floral motifs. Freehand stripe decoration below rim. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. One handle poorly restored. Minor surface wear. H 13 1/4".
