Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Western PA origin, circa 1875, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, decorated over a slip-coated surface with a brushed and slip-trailed design of connecting stems, the upper stem culminating in a stylized flowerhead. Underscored freehand "2" at base. A 4" crack from rim on side of jar. A 3/4" surface line from rim on front, not visible on interior. Residue from use on interior. H 11 1/2".
