Large-Sized Stoneware Canning Jar with Elaborate Manganese Decoration, Signed "G.N. Fulton," Alleghany County, VA, circa 1875, ovoid jar with heavily-tooled shoulder and flared rim, the surface partially-dipped in light-colored slip and brush-decorated across the front with the signature, "G.N. Fulton," between floral motifs. A 2" rim chip and 1" rim chip. An 8 1/2" hairline descending from shoulder, connected to a 3 1/2" diagonal hairline at shoulder. A minor base nick. H 11".
