Stoneware Canning Jar with Elaborate Manganese Decoration, Signed "G.N. Fulton," Alleghany County, VA origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder and semi-squared rim, the front heavily-decorated with reddish brown manganese swags and leaves. Center of jar inscribed in manganese "G.N. Fulton". Includes antique wooden lid. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, recently found in Maryland. Excellent condition with some minor rim wear and some nicks to inner rim for lid. Overfired area to front. H 8 3/4".
