Two Two-Gallon Stoneware Jars with Stenciled and Freehand Cobalt Decoration, PA and WV origin, circa 1875, a two-gallon ovoid jar, stenciled "HAMILTON & JONES. / GREENSBORO. / PA.," paired with a cylindrical jar, stenciled "RICHEY & HAMILTON / PALATINE / W.VA." Greensboro jar with surface wear, a large, thin spider crack to one side, a small spider line to opposite side, a 2 1/2" loss to rim, and a small base chip. Palatine jar with long, tight cracks to base area, continuing onto underside, and two small, in-the-firing base chips. H (of shorter) 9 7/8".
