Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jugs, Greensboro, PA origin, circa 1875-1880, both of semi-ovoid form, a one-gallon jug with large freehand fuchsia and stripe decorations, circa 1875, paired with a two-gallon jug with freehand brushwork and the stenciled advertising, "THOS. E. POLLARD, / WHOLESALE / LIQUOR / DEALER. / COR. PENN & ELEVENTH / STS. / PITTSBURGH. PA." Shorter jug with poorly-restored handle, a small chip to molding at base of spout, paint/possible restoration to exterior surface of spout on reverse, and residue to base. Taller jug with in-the-firing dryness to stenciling, a large spout chip, a large area of faint crazing to left side, and handle broken and reglued. H (of shorter) 11 3/4".
