One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Unusual Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX," Harrisburg, PA origin, circa 1865, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, flattened rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed design of a flower blossom with X-shaped foliate motif emanating from it. Light cobalt accent to maker's mark. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A 1 1/8" flake to end of one handle. Otherwise excellent condition. H 9 1/2".
