One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX. / HARRISBURG .PA," circa 1865, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and lug handles, decorated with a brushed design of a daisy flanked by swags. Includes possibly original lid. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. A 1 1/8" hairline from rim on front and reverse. A rim chip on front and reverse. A tiny chip to interior of rim. Some shallow, narrow in-the-firing chipping to underside at edge. Lid with large flake to edge adjacent to a small chip. A minor, glazed-over nick to knob of lid. H 9 1/4".
