Two Cobalt-Stenciled Stoneware Jars, Western PA origin, circa 1875, a canning jar with "wax sealer" rim, decorated with a stenciled design of a daisy flanked by a flowering stem with leaves; paired with a half-gallon semi-ovoid jar with stylized stenciled flourish. Daisy-decorated jar with chips to interior of rim and inner wax sealer rim, a 3 1/2" x 2 1/2" in-the-firing flake to underside. Other jar with shallow chips to interior of rim, a chip to underside at edge, a minor base chip, and faint lines on underside, one of which continues 1 1/2" onto reverse base area. H (of wax sealer) 8 1/4".
