Fine Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Canning Jar with Stenciled Federal Eagle Decoration, Stenciled "A.P. Donaghho / Fredericktown / Pa.", circa 1870, tapered jar with tooled shoulder and thin wax sealer rim, decorated with a stenciled design of a Federal eagle with shield holding an olive branch and arrows in its talons. Decorated above with "A.P. Donaghho, / Fredericktown, / Pa" maker's stenciling. Desirable form with crisp, early-period Donaghho stenciling. Excellent condition with small chips to interior of rim. H 9 1/2".
