Four-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Large Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "NEW YORK / STONEWARE CO. / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.", circa 1875, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a leaf. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Partial restoration to exfoliation extending from reverse, to left side of crock, to shoulder on front. Restoration to left handle. Small chips to right handle. A thin 5" crack from rim on reverse. Rim chips.
