LONDON WHISKEY CLUB Stoneware Cooler with Relief Polo Scene, Inscribed "JOHN P SHEEHAN & CO / UTICA N.Y / SOLE ACTS", attributed to the White's Pottery, Utica, NY, late 19th century, molded, vasiform cooler with squared bunghole at base, the front decorated with a relief design of polo players in action, below two rampant lions with coat-of-arms and banner, inscribed "LONDON WHISKEY CLUB". Reverse with relief decoration of a globe with banner, inscribed "JOHN P SHEEHAN & Co" UTICA N.Y / SOLE AGENTS". Surface covered in a Bristol slip glaze with cobalt highlights throughout. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a recently-surfaced GA collection. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 14 1/2".
