Slip-Decorated Redware Canning Jar with Lid, Galena, IL origin, second half 19th century, semi-ovoid jar with flared rim, the upper portion of the jar with dipped slip decoration, the entire surface covered in a clear lead glaze. Includes glazed Galena, IL redware lid. Provenance: From a long-term private collection of Galena, IL redware consigned to this auction. Jar with a 5/8" chip to exterior of rim, heavy shallow chipping to interior of rim, and a 1 1/4" flake to underside. Lid with heavy chipping and a 2 3/8" loss to edge. H (excluding lid) 8 1/2".
