Four-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Stamped "E. FOWLER / BEAVER, PA", circa 1870, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flattened rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a long brushed vine design between freehand stripes and a "4" with flourish and stripe below, all applied over slip-coated clay. Shallow chipping to inner rim for lid. Excellent, essentially as-made condition.
