Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration and Unusual Maker's Mark Impresssions, Stamped "J. MCKENZIE / BEAVER, PA", mid 19th century, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with an open-centered flower, applied over slip-coated clay. Cobalt highlights to capacity mark and handle terminals. Shoulder impressed multiple times with J. McKenzie maker's mark in a circular fashion. Very nice condition with a faint 4 1/2" Y-shaped hairline to reverse and a 2 3/4" surface line to far left side of jar's front, not visible on interior, and a small base chip.
