Red-Painted Southern Stoneware Devil Face Jug, Inscribed "Brown's Pottery / Arden, N.C. / L.D.B. / 10-15-94" and "Brown's Pottery Louis D. Brown", 1994, narrow-bodied, cylindrical jug decorated with an applied clay devil face including curved horns, bulging eyes, eyebrows, large ears, a nose with pierced nostrils, a mustache and goatee, and open mouth with china. Incised details to eyes, eyebrows, mustache, and goatee. Surface covered in red paint with black highlights. Base incised "Brown's Pottery / Arden, N.C. / L.D.B. / 10-15-94". Underside incised "Brown's Pottery / Arden, N.C. / Louis D. Brown". Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 16 1/4".
