Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Snake Jug, Stamped "B.B. CRAIG / VALE, N.C.", early fourth quarter 20th century, ovoid jug with tooled shoulder and two applied handles, the shoulder decorated with two hand-modeled and applied clay snakes with carved mouths and raised eyes. Surface of jug and one snake covered in a greenish alkaline glaze. Other snake decorated with iron slip. Underside impressed with B.B. Craig maker's mark. Hairline to brown snake's neck. H 10 1/2".
