Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Stenciled Cross Decoration, Stamped "F.H. COWDEN / HARRISBURG", PA origin, circa 1880, cylindrical jug with squared spout, cobalt-decorated with a stylized stenciled design of a cross with tulip-shaped accents. Light cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and lower handle terminal. Provenance: David Musser Collection. Two horizontal hairlines near base of handle. Shallow chips to spout. Some minor bubbling to cobalt.
