One-Gallon Wheeling, West Virginia Stoneware Advertising Jug, Western PA origin, circa 1875, semi-ovoid jug with tooled spout and ribbed strap handle, featuring the stenciled cobalt advertising "JOHN L. SMITH & CO. / 1407 MAIN / & 1406 SOUTH / STS. / WHEELING. W. VA.". Freehand stripe at shoulder. Excellent condition with a small in-the-firing stone ping in handle with a 1/2" hairline extending from it.
