Two-Gallon Wheeling, WV Stoneware Advertising Jug, Western PA origin, circa 1875, semi-ovoid jug with tooled spout and applied handle, featuring the stenciled cobalt inscription "PETER WELTY & CO. / WHOLESALE LIQUORS. / 1118 MAIN & 1121 MARKE[T] / WHEELING W. VA". Stenciled "2" at shoulder. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with an in-the-firing chip to bottom edge and some darkness and faintness to stenciling.
